About NTK’s Junior Academy Course


NTK’s Junior Academy provides expertly crafted courses that help students achieve excellent academic results through early practice of test-taking skills. Teachers are highly qualified and provide full-time support to students throughout the school year until final exams. 

The Junior Academy Course is specifically tailored to help students learn the skills they need to tackle international exams in their later years. Junior Academy–Language 


 ENGLISH 

Language Arts (Grade 3–4) 

  • Lessons centre on Descriptive Writing (sensory imagery, sensory adjectives, onomatopoeia), Narrative Writing (changing points of view, constructing plot, pacing), and Persuasive Writing (forming an opinion, argumentation techniques, call to action). 

English Language Analysis and Commentary (Grade 5–6 / 7–8 / 9–10) 

  • Each unit consists of thorough analysis and production of contemporary non-literary works. These text types include: Narratives (biography, imaginative, descriptive), Letters (informal letters, letters to editor, blog), and Graphics (posters, comics, infographics). 

English Literary Analysis and Commentary (Grade 5–6 / 7–8 / 9–10) 

  • Each unit consists of scholarly analysis and production of iconic literary works. These sophisticated topics include: Prose (characters, setting, plot, motifs), Poetry (rhyme scheme, imagery, free verse), and Drama (dialogue, symbolism, proxemics). 

English Advanced Studies (Grade 5–6 / 7–8 / 9–10) 

  • Students will be exposed to different writing genres and styles in the Writing Camp, including Journalistic Writing, Technical Scan here for course information Writing, Expository Writing, Review Writing, and Social Media Writing. Their innovative works will be polished by insightful feedback from the instructors.

Junior Academy–Mathematics and Science


MATHEMATICS / SCIENCE 

Junior Mathematics (Grade 3–4 / 5 / 6) 

  • Build a solid foundation of mathematical concepts and model situations 
  • Explore a diverse range of mathematical topics through interactive lessons and activities as students progress through the course 
  • Develop the necessary creative and analytical thinking skills to cope with different question types in the exam 

Senior Mathematics (Grade 7 / 8 / 9 / 10) 

  • Build upon fundamental concepts to enhance students’ capability to tackle challenging mathematical problems 
  • Further sharpen students’ independent thinking, which is beneficial for the Investigation Component 
  • Completion of the course helps students consolidate mathematical skills essential for future academic paths, such as studies in Mathematics and Science in the IGCSE and IBDP curriculum 

Science (Grade 7–8 / 9–10) 

  • Adapted to IBMYP and KS3 curricula to stimulate students’ interest in the sciences 
  • Sharpen necessary skills to succeed in advanced science and practical knowledge such as writing lab reports, calculation techniques, and evaluate and reflect on the impact of science
  • Ensure that students become familiar with IBMYP Criteria A-D and learn about theoretical and practical aspects of science through discussion and interactive workshops 
  • Prepare students for higher-level studies in Biology, Chemistry and Physics
